The weather is getting warmer and the days longer, which means enjoying evenings out with friends and family. There’s not a better place to do this than at Downtown Culver City’s “Third Wednesdays”. Formally known as the Downtown Culver City “Block Parties”, these monthly events draw Angelenos from every part of LA to Downtown Culver City to enjoy the beautiful, pedestrian-friendly district. On Feb. 16th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., over 25 businesses will be participating in this fun monthly event. Attendees can enjoy live musical performances under the stars, drink and dine on specials, receive freebies and samples, view art at gallery openings and take in one-of-a-kind entertainment.
February’s “Third Wednesday” is a fundraiser to benefit the Culver City Education Foundation’s (CCEF) Garden Project—a project to help Culver City Unified School District children and their parents adopt better eating habits through nutrition education and hands-on gardening. In partnership with GrowingGreat, the CCEF launched a pilot nutrition program at El Rincon Elementary School three years ago. Last year, with the support of the Culver City Downtown Business Association (DBA) this program was expanded to Farragut Elementary School. Students in grades 3-5 received five classroom nutrition education lessons during the school year in addition to hands-on experience in the gardens located on the school grounds. The program was an overwhelming success.
To participate and support CCEF, visit any participating Downtown business during “Third Wednesdays” on Feb. 16th and a portion of sales for the night will be donated to CCEF. The DBA hopes to raise enough funds to generously support this important cause. Your job- get out and have some fun, and let the green stuff grow.
