One hundred years ago, on September 4, 1924, Harry Culver formally opened his Culver City Skyscraper, The Hunt Hotel. The local newspapers herald this historic event and thousands of people flocked to see Culver’s new addition to his growing City. Through the years, the Hotel went through a series of phases, owners and occupants, including John Wayne, Charlie, Chaplin, Red Skelton, and even the YMCA to name a few.
On July 27, 2024, the Culver City Historical Society will hear from Eve Mott and Maren Brown with their research and photos of the “history and mystery” of the hotel, dating back to 1923.
NOTE – The program will not take place at the hotel, but at the Multipurpose Room of the Vets Building, at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
