The FY2011 appropriations deal requires state Departments of Transportation to return $2.5 billion in transportation funding to Washington. Based on past “rescissions” like this, many state DOTs will take most of the cuts from bicycle and pedestrian programs.
While Safe Routes to School is not eligible for these rescissions, it could devastate Transportation Enhancements and other bike/ped programs. In past rescissions, your state has targeted critical bicycling and walking programs for the bulk of the cuts. We need your help to make sure that does not happen again this year!
We kindly ask that you take a few minutes action today on this. Contact your Governor through the League of American Bicyclist’s action alert system.
Thanks for your help in ensuring that we can keep building safe sidewalks, street crossings, bike lanes and paths!
Sincerely,
Jessica
