Revised Agenda Released for Special June 17 City Council Meeting

The Special City Council meeting scheduled for tonight, June 17, 2021 includes a public hearing, an action items and now has the addition of a closed session item as well.

The public hearing will focus on the “Oil Drilling Subcommittee’s recommendations … to terminate nonconforming oil uses …. by July 28, 2026.” The long conversation about the harm done to residents by the proximity of active oil wells may reach its next important milestone via the council this evening.

The action item takes on the discussion and consideration of  “The Adoption of a Resolution Acknowledging Culver City’s Racial History.” The proposed resolution, already signed and approved by the City Attorney Carol Schwab, covers four pages and proposes specific remedies and reparations for past city policies that are deemed to have been implicitly racist.
