Police Rescue Stabbing Victim; Suspect in Custody

Culver City Police responded to the 6100 block of Slauson Avenue on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 2:45 pm regarding multiple calls of what appeared to be an altercation happening in the parking lot. When officers arrived, they located a female adult victim who had been stabbed numerous times and was
bleeding heavily. The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and is currently in stable condition.

Officers immediately worked to locate the suspect involved. A perimeter was set up, and police searched the area where the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot. A short time later, officers found the suspect hiding in bushes at Cougar Park near Hannum Avenue and Slauson Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody
without incident.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect approached the victim in the parking lot. The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the area on foot. The knife believed to be used in the attack was recovered at the scene.

Initially, the suspect provided a false identity to police, indicating he was thirty-eight years oldInvestigators have identified the suspect as Jorge Arnoldo Vasquez, a thirty-five-year-old Male Hispanic with an unknown city of residence. Vasquez was booked at the Culver City Police Department Jail and has subsequently been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and providing false
identification to a peace officer. Bail for Vasquez has been set at two million dollars.
