Skateside Fest 2024 is being presented by The Skatside in conjunction with the Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and is designed to showcase L.A.’s incredible skating talent.

“Skateside Fest was created to extend beyond skateboarding and roller skating,” said Lemar Betts, owner and co-founder of The Skateside. “It aims to bring together the entire community for a day of celebration through the medium of skateboarding. Families and non-skaters are also encouraged to participate, fostering a sense of unity.”

The highlight of the event will be an exciting street skateboarding competition. It will be divided into separate competitions for various skill levels and age groups ranging from 6 & under to adult. Finalists will receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place trophies.

“Skateside Fest was such a fun, exciting, family-friendly event,” said Erin Hirsh, whose son attended in 2019. “[The]  competition really boosted Cairo’s confidence and motivated him to go farther in his skating.”

The Skateside is a certified minority-owned small business founded in 2015 by Lemar Betts, a skateboarding enthusiast, and his wife, Elena Di Gianni. As parents, their goal was to create a skateboarding community that would benefit the families of their Culver City neighborhood.

Since then they have trained over ten thousand children and adults how to skateboard or roller skate. The Skateside currently provides lessons and holds camps in Los Angeles County in 10 cities and 9 esteemed schools with 3 in Los Angeles Unified School District, and is known for its outstanding instructors, excellent training, and emphasis on safety.
