Enviro-Fest Has it All on May 4: Free Trees, E-Waste Collection, Clothing Swap, Repair Cafe

Join Culver City’s  Environmental Programs and Operations Division of Public Works in celebrating Arbor Day, Earth Day, and International Composting Week with Enviro-fest! Please join us at the Wende Museum and take part in the following activities!

E-Waste Collection EPO will be co-hosting an e-waste collection and paper-shredding event with Homeboy Industries. Dispose of your old electronics in a socially and ecologically responsible way. Drive up, drop off and drive away. Staff can assist to remove from car. All electronics will be accepted except: refrigerators, alkaline batteries, thermostats, light bulbs and air conditioners. E-waste will be handled in a way that protects the planet, keeps your data safe, and creates jobs for people facing serious barriers to work. All hard drives and data storage devices will be destroyed according to NIST standards. Homeboy Recycling is a certified electronics recycler offering recycling, data destruction, asset recovery and repair services.

Paper shredding is in compliance with HIPAA standards. The maximum paper shredding allowed will be six boxes with a maximum of the following dimensions: 18″ x 12″ x 10″.

Compost & Fruit Tree Giveaway EPO will be giving away compost, 100 fruit trees, 110 vegetable plants and kitchen pails while supplies last. This is a self-haul event so bring a shovel – residents are responsible for shoveling and bagging their own compost in garbage bags, yard waste bags, reusable containers, pick-up bed, or trailer. Compost is ready to go but recommended to be mixed with topsoil or another gardening fill. For best growing results, a 60/40 split (60% topsoil and 40% compost) is recommended.
