Councilmember Vera Announces Bid for Re-Election

Council member Albert Vera, Jr. formally launched his re-election campaign on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 with an email offering goals and closing with a plea for campaign contributions. While candidates often hold events to launch a kick-off, Vera chose to do so in a more quiet way, reaching to people already on his list.

Vera, Jr. was elected to the City Council in 2020 during the pandemic, and served as Mayor during 2023.

In his campaign announcement, Vera offered, “I’m running for reelection because, while we’ve made progress, there is still so much to be done to make Culver City the best it can be….I’m running because the unhoused in our community still do not have access to all the resources and supportive services that will enable them to get off the streets for good…I’m running because we need to make sure the city continues to do the best job possible in providing services to its residents – from street sweeping and fixing potholes to trimming trees and picking up trash.”

Vera will be looking to be re-elected on the November ballot, and the next eight months will see a great deal of activity from candidates seeking a council seat.
