While there are still contests too close to call, last night Holly J. Mitchell celebrated victory in her campaign for the state assembly with an overwhelming 81% of the vote.
The newly elected assembly member offered this to her supporters – “This has been your campaign as much as mine and I thank you for your support and for electing me the next assembly member of the 47th District. I am proud to have the opportunity to be your representative and advocate on your behalf to make sure that your voice is heard.”
She continued, “There is much work ahead. We have a fractured government, and an unhappy electorate. So it is time to get back to basics. I will serve as your legislator the same way I ran my campaign–with an open mind and a willingness to listen and engage. I could not have won this election without you and I will not be able to serve successfully without you either.”
Nowhere else in the country did Democrats win by such sweeping margins as in southern California.
