Transition Culver City announces the cancellation of this Saturday’s Nov. 7 program “Taking Back Childhood: What do kids really want—that money can’t buy?” However, we are very excited about our Chickens of Gratitude (COG): Chicken Run Party which will take place on Sunday Nov. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m!
We’ll be building a coop and chicken run in a local garden. We’ll supply the materials and tools, drinks and music. Bring your work gloves, a potluck dish, a plate, cup and merriment. Please RSVP if you can join us: [email protected] or 310-390-3021 for Michelle.
Also, for those of you who are interested in person-powered transportation, Culver City’s very first Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan will be voted on at Monday Nov 8. Voicing your support for the Plan at the council meeting will help assure its passage. Monday Nov. 8, Culver City Hall, Council Chambers, 7 p.m. If you have never spoken at City Hall, enter in the left door, and there will be a table with agendas for the evening, and cards to fill out if you wish to speak. Fill out a card and give it to the clerk on the right side of the room in the front- Ela Valladares or Alice Prsad will take your card, and call your name when it’s your turn to speak. Write legibly and make sure you ask to speak for the item that you wish to address, or for “Items Not On the Agenda.” Carrying your bike helmet or skateboard will make you look very authentic. It’s an excellent evening to walk your talk, so walk if you can.
Finally, on Tuesday, Nov. 9, the city will host a public workshop on “Parcel B” – the empty lot next to Trader Joe’s in Culver City. How to we conceive of this space – public? commercial? What are the possibilities for our city? Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Pattacia room, Culver City Hall. For more info contact [email protected] or go to http://www.transitionculvercity.org/
