The Culver City School Board held a special meeting on August 31 with the Cosca Group, a superintendent search firm, to begin the process of selecting a new superintendent of schools. Board President Steve Gourley characterized the meeting as “amicable” and expressed his enthusiasm for both the performance of the interim superintendent, Patti Jaffe, and the board’s ability to move the search forward. “We have a chance to hire in someone who can really meet the standards of the district, and work with the board to get the schools what they need.”
The ninety minute meeting covered the requirements for the superintendent’s position, and set up a timeline for the new hire to be completed in January of 2011. Frank Cosca offered that identifying the needs and the strengths of the district would create a clear picture of the best candidate.
Board member Kathy Paspalis felt confident that the search firm would be able to succeed in meeting the goal. “I look forward to working with Cosca Group, ” she said “and I know we can find a superintendent that will be a good match for Culver City.”
