The first Creekside Native Learning Garden Planting Day will be this Saturday, April 17, 9 a.m.-noon. Between the Culver City Middle School buildings and the high school baseball diamond, and alongside the bike path fence. After registration and refreshments, we’ll start orientation and planting instruction at about 9:30 a.m.
Help to prepare for either this Saturday or follow-up days on April 24 and May 1. High school students can earn service credits and everyone is welcome! With a big area and not all plants in stock, we also plan to have work days, too. Stay tuned for updates. What to bring: Gloves, hats, sunscreen, and closed-toe shoes are recommended. Trowels, hand cultivators, shovels, rakes and other tools marked with your name also would be welcome. Water and light refreshments will be available.
This will be part of an emerging Ballona Creek Greenway, this project is funded by a grant from the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Foundation-a great way to help the creek, campus, and community become ever more attractive and sustainable.
