I am writing regarding the article describing the August 17, 2026 City Council candidate forum hosted by Culver City Democrats United (CCDU) at Veterans Auditorium.
The article states that approximately 50 local residents gathered for a City Council candidate forum. I would like to clarify for the record that I am a candidate for Culver City City Council, and I was never invited to participate in this forum.
I did not decline an invitation, fail to respond, or choose not to attend. I was never contacted or invited by CCDU to participate.
I believe this distinction is important for readers. When an organization holds an event described as a “City Council candidate forum,” the public may reasonably assume that all qualified candidates were given an opportunity to participate. Without clarification, a candidate’s absence could incorrectly give readers the impression that the candidate chose not to attend.
I would appreciate it if you could clarify this point.
