CC Symphony Offers an Evening of Works by Women @ KDT – May 6

The Culver City Symphony will be back at Kirk Douglas Theatre on May 6, 2023 at 7:30 pm for a program of works by female composers. Guest Maestra Mercedes Juan Musotto has drawn on her rich musical experience to construct an evening of inspiring, lyrical and beautiful music. The capstone piece is the impressively energetic and satisfying Symphony No. 3 by French composer Louise Farrenc, written in 1847 when Farrenc held the prestigious position of Professor of Piano at the Paris Conservatory. The program also includes works by Brazilian-American composer Clarice Assad, French composer Mélanie Bonis and Spanish-Mexican composer María Teresa Prieto. 

 

Mercedes Juan Musotto is the Musical Director and coach for the award-winning Opera Program at California State University Northridge, and Conductor of the Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra. A native of Argentina, she is a pianist as well as a conductor, and winner of the 2012 Solti Foundation award. She studied at the National University of La Plata and Teatro Colon Art College, receiving a Master of Music degree in Opera Conducting. She recently led the Hollywood Orchestra in “Lettres & Memories Maria Callas”, and premiered the musical “The Everything of Her” at the Ebell of Los Angeles.
