Psychopomp will share a site-specific duet based around the iconic story of the Burning Bush interwoven into Shabbat Services in Temple Akiba’s sanctuary. This first performance is free and open to anyone who is interested in attending a joyous, spiritual and unique Friday night service. The service will begin at 6:30 pm.
At 8:00 PM: In Temple Akiba’s social hall Psychopomp will share our exciting dance theater work NAMES. Inspired by the biblical story of Shemot, or the Exodus story, NAMES is an exhilarating dance theater work performed by five eclectic dance artists exploring how our own ancestral experiences of bondage, freedom and redemption continue to shape our present day lives. Taking inspiration from the Rabbinic belief that each year during Passover we ourselves must feel we were the ones brought out of slavery from Egypt, NAMES utilizes high octane movement, storytelling, as well as scenic and prop elements to transport the audience into a liminal and spiritual space bringing to life an ancient but intrinsic story of humanity.
Tickets are free – JUST RSVP! Open to all community members. Bring your friends and join our community!
