CCHS Student Artist Valentina Leguizamon Makes a Splash in West Basin Art Contest

West Basin Municipal Water District recently announced that Culver City High School freshman Valentina Leguizamon, whose work is pictured above, earned an Honorable Mention in its 2022 Water is Life student art contest. Local student artists created inspiring artwork that encourage others to conserve and use water more efficiently.

“We applaud all of the Water is Life student art contest participants for their commitment to water conservation, especially important as California faces record drought conditions,” said West Basin Board President Donald L. Dear. “Their artful messages about the power of water critical to our livelihood are an inspiration to us all.”

West Basin received hundreds of entries from across the service area, of which one grand prize winner and four honorable mentions were selected in each of the elementary, middle and high school categories. To view the full list of awardees and artwork, please visit www.westbasin.org/waterislife.

The contest is a collaborative water education program between West Basin and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan). Winning artwork from West Basin’s local contest will advance to Metropolitan’s regional competition and may be featured in the agency’s 2023 calendar.
