Come to the Wende Museum this Saturday, November 23 at 2 p.m. for a compelling panel discussion, Counter/Surveillance: Hidden Histories and Why They Matter.
Presented in conjunction with the Wende Museum’s Counter/Surveillance exhibition and co-presented with the History of Science Society, this event explores the history, impact, and biases of facial recognition technologies.
Historians Sharrona Pearl (Texas Christian University) and Iris Clever (University of Chicago) and LA-based artist Ken Gonzales-Day will discuss the intersections of surveillance, race, and artistic resistance, offering fresh perspectives on one of today’s most pressing issues.
Moderated by Soraya de Chadarevian, Vice President/President-Elect of the History of Science Society, and Joes Segal, the Wende’s Chief Curator, this program promises to challenge assumptions and inspire new ways of thinking about privacy, representation, and technology.
