Annual Creek Clean Up on Sept. 19

Join us for the Annual Ballona Creek Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM. Hosted by the City’s Public Works Environmental Programs and Operations Division, the annual cleanup brings together volunteers from across the community to remove litter and harmful debris from Ballona Creek and help protect our local waterways and coastal environment.

Each year, as many as 200 volunteers participate at five cleanup sites throughout Culver City as part of California Coastal Cleanup Day, one of the world’s largest environmental volunteer events.

Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 9 AM–12 PM, in-person registration begins at 9 AM at each cleanup site.

Volunteers can participate at any of the following locations:

Sepulveda Boulevard
Site Coordinator: Culver City Kiwanis
Overland Avenue
Site Coordinator: Ballona Creek Renaissance
Duquesne Avenue
Site Coordinator: Culver City Bicycle Coalition
Syd Kronenthal Park
Site Coordinator: Echo Horizon School
Baldwin Hills Overlook/ Jefferson Boulevard street-side lot
Site Coordinator: Sierra Club

Culver City Public Works will provide overall coordination for the five sites.

California Coastal Cleanup Day is coordinated in Los Angeles County by Heal the Bay, the California Coastal Commission, and the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors.

More than 10,000 volunteers are expected to participate throughout Los Angeles County, joining volunteers in communities around the world working to prevent pollution from reaching beaches and waterways.

Following the cleanup, City staff will collect data from each Culver City site and report the results to Heal the Bay. The information helps track pollution throughout the Los Angeles watershed and supports efforts to protect waterways used for swimming, fishing, kayaking and other recreation.

Every piece of litter removed makes a difference. Join your neighbors and help keep Ballona Creek clean.
