The bike path on Ballona Creek had a few startled riders this morning, September 8, 2026; a tree had fallen into the path, taking a small section of railing with it.
The intermittent rain of the past several days seems to have loosened enough of the roots to cause the tree to topple downhill onto the section of the path between Higuera and Duquesene.
According to Culver City’s Department of Public Works, crews were dispatched to clear the obstruction, and are currently at work.
“Crews are working to remove the tree today. Railing repairs will take additional time, and that section of the path will remain closed until it can be safely reopened.Public Works will share an updated timeline for reopening as soon as more information is available.”
While no gates have been closed, riders should be aware of the obstruction, and plan an alternate route.
