CCPD Arrest Fifth Suspect in Westfield/Fox Hills Assault

On August 31, 2026, at approximately 4:39 p.m., Culver City Police officers responded to Westfield Culver City, located at 6000 Sepulveda Boulevard, following reports of a group of juveniles harassing patrons. As officers responded, the incident escalated when members of the group assaulted an adult male and female.

The male victim sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries. During the incident, jewelry was forcibly taken from the female victim. The victims’ two young children were present during the incident but were not physically injured.

CCPD detectives immediately began an extensive investigation, utilizing evidence gathered at the scene, including video surveillance, to identify those responsible.

On September 2, Culver City Police conducted an operation in the City of Los Angeles that resulted in the arrest of four suspects connected to the case.

Through continued investigative efforts, detectives identified Edward Miralda, a resident of San Bernardino, as the final outstanding suspect. On September 4, detectives presented the investigation for filing, and felony charges were filed against Miralda, including robbery and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

On September 8, detectives returned to the City of Los Angeles and located Miralda leaving a residence in a vehicle. Detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, resulting in a brief vehicle pursuit.

Approximately one minute later, the vehicle stopped. The suspect exited the vehicle in what appeared to be an attempt to flee on foot; seeing that K9 Kohu was present, the suspect made the decision to surrender without further incident.

With Miralda’s arrest, all five suspects identified in connection with this violent assault and robbery have now been taken into custody.
