Metro Looks to Turn HOV Lanes to Toll Roads with Sepulveda Pass Project

On August 3rd, Metro and Caltrans began the scoping process for a key project funded by Measure M: ExpressLanes on the I-405 freeway through the Sepulveda Pass. The purpose of the project is to convert the existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes to dynamically-priced, high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes, also called ExpressLanes, in the southbound and northbound directions of the I-405 freeway, between I-10 and US-101 freeways.

Due to strong early interest in the project, Metro is extending the scoping comment period from 30 days to 60 days, through October 1, 2021, to allow more time for the submittal of public comments. During this period, the public is encouraged to submit their thoughts and comments on the alternatives, as well as help identify and inform the issues that may need to be addressed in the environmental process.

Virtual Meetings

The public is also invited to attend a virtual public scoping meeting. The two remaining virtual public scoping meetings are being held tonight at 6 PM and tomorrow at 11:30 AM.
