Not only is there a free lunch, crafts and games, and lots of friends, the CCUSD Free Lunch program is also offering the unique Young Storytellers Foundation at La Ballona this summer with the Script to Stage Summer Program!
The Script-to-Stage Program is a FREE creative writing program for fifth grade students (incoming and outgoing). Over two weeks, our YSF mentor-screenwriters will spend one hour a day helping 10 students learn the basics of storytelling which culminates in the creation of their own 5-page screenplay. Students will be given an individual mentor to work with them one-on-one to guide and encourage them as they imagine and develop their script.
On the 9th day, professional actors from film & television will perform each student’s script at the Big Show in the La Ballona auditorium for family, faculty, friends, and classmates. On the final day we will review and evaluate the students’ experiences at a special Wrap Party. In order for our young writers to get the most out of our program, they must attend all 10 sessions. Session Dates: July 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, and July 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st* and August 1st from Noon – 1pm at La Ballona Elementary School. *THE BIG SHOW will happen on July 31st from 11:30am – 1:00pm in the La Ballona Elementary School Auditorium.
