The total funding for this second of three grant application periods in the current school year is nearly $20,000. Did you ever wonder where the funding comes from for these grant awards?
Making grant awards to our CCUSD teachers is one of CCEF’s greatest joys. After all, it’s our mission to fund projects, programs, activities, books and equipment that enrich our students. As a rule, these grants are funded by special events like our magical Tribute to the Stars gala in May and, this year, by our fabulous On-line Silent Auction. We would like to thank everyone who will be buying tickets to the gala or who bid on items during our recent silent auction. When you see the new technology, musical instruments or field trips CCEF has been able to fund, take pride in knowing that you helped make it happen.
It is CCEF’s good fortune that we not only have a community that supports our schools, but also some exceptional friends within that community who go above and beyond to help fund these grants. Wally Marks is one of those special people. This year he donated $7,000 to fund the grant for the AVID tutors at CCHS. We honored Wally Marks in 2011 with the Shining Star Award, but he has our thanks and profound appreciation every year.
