Tainted Romaine @ Vons & Pavilions (The Tip of the Iceberg)

Pacific International Marketing is recalling romaine lettuce after a field test showed the presence of salmonella. The lettuce is sold at Vons and Pavilions stores, and banded with a red twist tie marked “Safeway.” The produce was sold between July 2 and July 4 and had a code of 12EASROM182. No bagged or carton lettuce was affected.

Consumers were advised to  return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported so far.

Editor’s Note- If you bought the lettuce, take it back to the store – they need to know how much has been sold and where it went so that if there is an outbreak of illness, they will have the info they need to track it. Good time to think about signing up with a CSA…
