In conjunction with GrowingGreat, a non-profit organization with a comprehensive school garden and nutrition education program, the Culver City Education Foundation launched a pilot nutrition program at El Rincon Elementary School three years ago. Last fall, with the support of the Downtown Business Association, this program was expanded to Farragut and El Marino Elementaries. Students in grades 3-5 received 5 class room nutrition education lessons during the school year in addition to hands-on experience in the gardens located on the school grounds. The program was such an overwhelming success that the principals in the remaining elementary schools indicated how excited they were to include this program in their curriculum in the coming year .Join the CCEF and the Culver City DBA as we help raise funds for the Garden Project in Culver City’s elementary schools. Simply visit any participating downtown business and mention “GARDEN” to ensure that a percentage of your purchase will be donated to the CCEF for the Garden Project. Support your child’s school by enjoying specials from award-winning restaurants, sipping wine and cocktails served by the city’s best mixologists and sommeliers, and listening to live music- what could be better than that?!
The DBA has taken an active role in partnering with CCEF to raise money in support of educating and inspiring our CCUSD children and their parents to adopt healthier eating habits.
We need your help to make this happen. Come out on Feb 16., eat, drink and help us plant gardens at all elementary schools throughout Culver City. Your generosity will help support CCEF and DBA’s partnership to raise as much money as possible. So please tell everyone you know to join you in Downtown Culver City on February 16th – it’s a great night out for a great cause!
