Super Scoop-CCUSD Superintendent Cote Leaving Culver City

Culver City Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Myrna Rivera Cote will be leaving to take on the superintendent position at the El Rancho School District. She will begin her new duties on July 1.

In a phone call to a school board member on Friday, May 28, Cote gave two of the most important reasons for the job change; “It’s a lot closer to home (Cote lives in Orange County) and it’s more money.”

Another School Board member was dismayed. “Dr. Cote is leaving us at a very difficult financial moment, and I hope we can find someone who understands the uniqueness of our district and can preserve our great programs and help us to grow.”

Located south of Los Angeles, the El Rancho district is slightly larger than CCUSD, with 7 elementary school, 3 middle schools and 2 high schools.

Dr. Cote could not be reached for comment.
