Grace Lutheran Church’s April MidDay Music Jazz Concert will take place on Thursday, April 11 in the Church Sanctuary. The featured singer is Alison Lewis (pictured above) accompanied by Sri Lanken-born, Grammy-nominated pianist, Mahesh Balasooriya. Alison has appeared at venues ranging from Skirball Museum in Los Angeles to Lincoln Center in New York and has shared the stage with such notables as Michael Franti and Patti Austin. Mahesh received first place in the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Outstanding Rhythm Player Competition and in the Coltrane International Music Competition at 16. By 18, he was playing at Disney Concert Hall in an orchestra behind Stevie Wonder with John Williams conducting.
The performance will begin at 12:05 p.m. Grace Lutheran Church is located at 4427 Overland Avenue.
