JPAC Names Mitchell Lawmaker of the Year

unnamedA statewide Jewish-advocacy group late Monday presented Sen. Holly J. Mitchell with its annual leadership honor, known as the Jerry Sampson Memorial Award.

Rabbi Noah Farkas of Valley Beth Shalom, Nancy Volpert of Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles and member Barbara Yaroslavsky formally presented the award on behalf of the Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California to Mitchell, chair of the Senate Budget Committee, at an off-site event near the State Capitol.

JPAC is the largest single-state coalition of Jewish organizations in the nation, representing Jewish communities and nonprofit organizations throughout California. Membership is comprised of Jewish Federations, Jewish Community Relations Councils, Jewish Family Service agencies, and many other Jewish community organizations.
