Almost a week after the deadline for ballots to be cast, the top three candidates for Culver City Council have stayed in the same placement since last Tuesday night.

Incumbent Albert Vera, Jr. is currently has 10,436 votes, incumbent Yasmine-Imani McMorrin has 8,924 votes, and Bryan “Bubba” Fish has 8,237 votes, solidifying his place as the third council race winner.

Fish offered on social media, “Thank you so much for believing in our message, and putting your trust in this campaign.” He emphasized that the tally was not yet final, and he was waiting for more a more complete tally from the county before calling it a victory.

While there are still ballots to be counted, the fact that positions have not changed at all since Election Day makes it highly unlikely that they will change now.

The CCUSD School Board seats will be filled by Andrew Lachman, currently leading with 11,119 votes, and Lindsay Carlson, taking the second seat with 10,380 votes. Like the City Council race, the school board voting has not changed positions since the initial ballot drop.

Measure O, the extension of the 2018 parcel tax that was set to expire, passed easily with 16,132 voting in favor.

Dr. Brian Lucas, the Superintendent of Schools for CCUSD, offered “I am delighted to report that it’s the highest “yes” vote for any school funding [or] bond matter in LA County in 2024. This is a particularly impressive feat during a year in which many school districts up and down that state had similar measures on their ballots. The revenue …currently funds more than 25 positions, including teachers, counselors, athletic coaches, and classroom support staff.”
