Autumn is the moment for going native; Friday morning, Sept. 20, 2024 saw the ribbon cutting for a new garden of native California plants at Stoner Avenue Elementary School. Ballona Creek Renaissance partnered with the school to remove an old section of asphalt, creating a 10,775 square foot space for native California plants that abuts the Sepulveda Chanel.
Ryan Drnek is the Landscape Architect who planned the garden space, and Cindy Hardin of Nature Nexus Institute will offer educational programming in this garden, along with Ballona Creek Renaissance.
The garden will be available for the students to enjoy every day.
