Emersion Music to Perform ‘Currents’ August 27

Emersion Music announces its annual concert, CURRENTS: Composers in Motion, at the Wende Museum Community Center on August 27, 2026 at 6:30pm. The evening features original works by award winning film and television composers, performed by a live chamber ensemble and brought to life through expressive movement.

Curator and featured composer Emer Kinsella (Concurrence, Saturn) is joined by a powerhouse lineup of composers including Emmy Award winners Vivek Maddala (American Revolutionary), and Duncan Thum (Chef’s Table), alongside Layla Minoui (Vampirina), Zack & Niki Hexum (Henry Danger), Amit May Cohen (Zombies 3), and Yuichiro Oku (Unknown 9: Awakening). Together, these artists present a program of deeply personal works that explore the invisible forces moving through us: sound, memory, place, emotion, and the body.

CURRENTS is what happens when a film score steps out from behind the screen and takes center stage, inviting you to feel the story through music, movement, and presence. Music here is not only heard but felt. Original scores, live ensemble performance, and movement come together to create a space where audiences experience contemporary music through the body, the room, and the city around them.

The Emersion Music Ensemble, Los Angeles-based instrumentalists, anchor the performance. In collaboration with movement artists Malik “Gvmby” Bannister and Jasmyn Thomas, they expand the concert beyond the stage into a shared experience of music and movement, opening space for improvisation, embodiment, and personal expression.

“CURRENTS is about the invisible forces that move through us: sound, memory, place, emotion, and the body,” said Emer. “I’m deeply grateful to the partners supporting this gathering and helping us create space for Los Angeles composers and performers to share new work with the community.”

Funded in part by the City of Culver City and its Cultural Affairs Commission, with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment, Culver Arts, Fine Line Music Service, BMI, Orchestral Tools and Creative Visions.

Emersion Music is a Los Angeles-based arts collective dedicated to redefining the concert experience through emotionally resonant, interdisciplinary performance. Led by composer Emer Kinsella, the group creates work that fosters deep listening, communal reflection, and artistic transformation, using music as a vehicle for connection and cultural storytelling.
