Dear Editor – Blanketing Blame

Dear Editor,

In your August 16 article about the firing of CCUSD Superintendent Tran, board member Dr. Kelly Kent lamented the fact that his dismissal would impede the district’s ability to implement vital changes supported by Culver City students, faculty, parents, and community stakeholders.

If Dr. Kent is so concerned with the needs voiced by our community, she wouldn’t have hired an incompetent, impudent, and impervious puppet for superintendent, effectively plunging a once great district into complete and utter chaos.

If Dr. Kent is so concerned with the needs voiced by our community, she wouldn’t have spent the last eight years either completely ignoring or publicly disparaging the very same people for whom she now feigns support.

If Dr. Kent is so concerned with the needs voiced by our community, she wouldn’t be pushing ahead with her outrageously expensive and exceedingly unpopular plan to build workforce housing.

If Dr. Kent is so concerned with the needs voiced by our community, she wouldn’t support flooding CCUSD with students who neither live in Culver City nor attend our schools on a permit.

If Dr. Kent is so concerned with the needs voiced by our community, she wouldn’t stand by as violence, drugs, fear, and apathy run rampant through our schools.

If Dr. Kent is so concerned with the needs voiced by our community, she would have stepped down years ago and allowed our community to heal.

Thank you,
Manuel Vizcaino
