The Westside Youth Orchestra based at Veterans Memorial Building in Culver City is inviting student musicians for the new semester. Auditions are from August 15 to 25 on ZOOM, sessions begin on August 30. WYO accepts new students ages 10 to 19 by audition and WYO Juniors (Interlude level), 6-10 years-old with a minimum foundation playing level – no audition required for WYO Juniors.
WYO students receive musicianship guidance from our artist coaches at weekly rehearsals. Our season runs 2 semesters through the year with each semester culminating in performances at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Culver City.
WYO also participates in music tours and competitions, most recently in the 2019 National Heritage Festivals Youth Orchestra Competition where we were awarded 1st Place Gold, Maestro Award, as well as a Trophy for ‘The Most Outstanding Orchestra’.
This level of exposure is designed to supplement and enhance your students’ current music education at your school. WYO would complement the school districts after school enrichment program by offering students the chance to play repertoire from the vast library of ‘philharmonic’ level orchestral music.
