The CCUSD Board of Education has announced the hiring of Dr. Adrienne M. Thomas as the new principal of Culver City High School, effective July 1, 2023.
Thomas most recently served as the Equity Officer in the ABC Unified School District, a position she has held since August, 2021. She previously served for four years as a Dean in ABC Unified, returning in 2021 to become the Equity Officer, where she oversaw the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Equity and Diversity plan for the district and worked with the district to assess improvements in school culture to promoted equity and inclusion.
Prior to that, Thomas spent two years serving as an Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction and four years serving as a Dean of Students in the Brea Olinda Unified School District.
“Dr. Thomas comes to Culver City High School with a great deal of experience in creating cultures focused on diversity, equity and inclusion; and I know her expertise will benefit the students, staff and families of CCHS,” said Superintendent Quoc Tran. “We are proud to have her join the CCUSD family.”
Thomas has taught at both the high school and middle school levels and worked as both an Instructional Support Administrator and a District Curriculum Specialist in the Compton Unified School District. She is a trained Equity Leader through the California Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) Leadership Network and the UCLA Equity Access Studies Project.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and her master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Literacy from Loyola Marymount University. Thomas earned her doctorate in K-12 Leadership from the University of Southern California. She attended UCLA for her teaching credential and master’s degree in Education.

Together, we create the conditions to share knowledge and the vision to further the excellence at Culver City High School.”
