The Culver City Council of PTAs Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee will host a series of virtual town halls with CCUSD Superintendent Quoc Tran for families of historically under-represented minority student groups.
• Monday, November 15, for families of Black and African-American students
• Tuesday, November 16, for families of Latinx students
• Monday, November 22, for families of students with disabilities
All events held from 5-6 pm. Please RSVP in advance.
“We are excited to hold these important events, which are just one action coming out of the Culver City Council of PTAs Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee,” said LaToya Baldwin Clark, who chairs the committee. She went on to emphasize, “While the focus will be on each of these groups individually, we know that many in our community have multiple identities that fit into more than one of these boxes. We encourage families to attend more than one if their concerns span topics.”
It is important to RSVP in advance to avoid any Zoombombing. In addition to contact information, RSVPing gives participants the opportunity to share questions and concerns prior to the event so Superintendent Tran can address those issues that most reflect the collective concerns during the meetings.
Baldwin Clark said this is the first set of several more town halls to be planned.
“We will hold additional ones for other specific subgroups in the next calendar year,” she said.
Live Spanish translation will be available for all events.
