CCUSD Requires Weekly COVID Testing for All Students Regardless of Vaccination Status

Starting Monday, September 27, 2021, weekly COVID testing will be required for all students, regardless of vaccination status. With CCUSD as the first district in the nation to mandate vaccines for all eligible students, weekly testing is seen as part of the strong safety net preventing the spread of COVID.

On the site EdSource, Superintendent Quoc Tran was noted as saying “Though it’s still possible to contract COVID while vaccinated, having the vaccine reduces the risk of spreading the disease as well as the severity of the symptoms.”

California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond also applauded the district for its decision to mandate vaccines and said he wouldn’t mind if more districts followed suit.

Testing for students will continue according to the current schedule.
