Community College Students Offered Vaccination Incentives

Students from the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) who get vaccinated against COVID-19 can receive up to $150, plus receive many other incentives, at the next two vaccination clinics hosted by Los Angeles Mission College on Wednesday, July 21, and Los Angeles Valley College on Saturday, July 31. Eligible LACCD students can earn as much as $300 if they qualify for the available incentives.

All LACCD students who get vaccinated now are eligible for $75, or $150 if they bring a friend or family member to get vaccinated too, thanks to a partnership between the Foundation for the Los Angeles Community Colleges and Kaiser Permanente. More than 400 LACCD students have already taken advantage of this valuable offer. Students must be able to show they were vaccinated July 1, 2021, or later, and apply for the incentive using the LACCD student portal ( MyCollege.laccd.edu ) and the form under the Scholarship / Foundation link.

On Wednesday, July 21, 2-5:30 p.m., Los Angeles Mission College, (LAMC), 13356 Eldridge Avenue, Sylmar, is teaming up with Kaiser Permanente to offer the vaccines free to anyone, no appointment needed. The clinic is part of the college’s “Eagle Enrollment Fair” for the fall 2021 semester. Students who enroll at LAMC while at the July 21 event can also receive:

· Assistance to apply for a special $300 emergency grant

· A free pass to Six Flags Magic Mountain if vaccinated on site, and

· The first 50 students who enroll at LAMC during the event will qualify for a $100 Smart & Final gift card.

On Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Los Angeles Valley College, (LAVC), 5800 Fulton Avenue, Valley Glen, (near Van Nuys), will host another free clinic, no appointment needed, featuring a special bonus incentive for current LAVC students and staff who can receive a $150 gift card to the college’s bookstore in addition to the districtwide student-only incentive from the Foundation. LAVC students must be enrolled in at least one current Summer Session class or a Fall 2021 Semester class to receive the $150 bookstore gift card. The clinic is provided by Care Ambulance Service.

The Foundation received the grant from Kaiser Permanente to make the incentives possible as part of Kaiser’s nationwide effort to increase confidence in the vaccines and provide more access to vaccinations, according to Michael Fuller, Director of Institutional Advancement for LACCD.

If you cannot make it to either college, there are hundreds of conveniently located community sites offering free COVID-19 vaccinations can be found at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health website.
