A car struck a pedestrian on Monday, July 12, 2021. The crash occurred about 1:15 a.m. on Sepulveda Boulevard, south of Venice Boulevard, The statement from Culver City Police Sgt. R. Casey said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and his name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. According to CCPD, “Members of the Culver City Fire Department arrived on scene and determined the male pedestrian was deceased. Culver City Police Officers detained the driver of the vehicle, who was at the scene of the accident. After a field investigation, the officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol and subsequently placed the driver under arrest for VC 23153(a), felony driving while under the influence.”
The road was closed by CCPD until 9 am, when they sent out a release noting that it was once again clear.
