One of the benefits of having such close borders with Los Angeles is having two fire departments to address a structure fire in the contiguous zone. Both the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Culver City Fire Department showed up to deal with a blaze in a heavily populated area just outside of Culver City.
The fire was reported to LAFD about 11:30 am on November 12, 2020, in the single-story building in the 10800 block of West Venice Boulevard. A former dental office, the building was rumored to be hosting squatters who may have accidentally begun the fire trying to generate heat from an unsafe source.
Firefighters began with a defense operation to prevent the flames from spreading to other buildings, and had the blaze out by early afternoon.
No injuries were reported.
