Girl Scout/Rotary Food Drive – Sept. 13

Culver City Girl Scout Troop 7965 is partnering with the Culver City Rotary Club to host a non-perishable food drive this Sunday, September 13 from 11 AM – 2 PM. Donations can be dropped off in the parking lot of the Culver City Senior Center at 4095 Overland Avenue.

“The ongoing Culver City Emergency Food Drive has been helping those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic since this spring. The food drive has been a true community collaboration with Culver City businesses, volunteers, our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services team and the Culver City Fire Department working together every week to help make sure everyone in Culver City who may need food is assisted. FeedCulver has been another partner in our efforts to provide healthy meals to those who are food insecure and has already provided 15,000 meals,” said Culver City Mayor Göran Eriksson. The City also appreciates the efforts of the Culver City Artist Laureate, Alexey Steele, who incorporates art designed by local students for each grocery bag.

Suggestions for items to donate include: canned vegetables such as corn, green beans and carrots, water, electrolyte drinks such as Gatorade, pancake mix, rice, rolled oats, low-sodium soup, quinoa, pasta, pasta sauce, freeze dried fruit, canned or pouched meat and tuna, salsa, canned fruit and fruit cups, granola and protein bars, popcorn, canned fruit juice, honey, jellies, jams, vegetable oil and anything you’d like to contribute that has a decent shelf life!

In addition to Sunday’s food drive, ongoing non-perishable local food drop-off locations include: Culver City Presbyterian Church (11269 Washington Boulevard), Larsen Automotive (10707 Jefferson Boulevard), Petco (5347 Sepulveda Boulevard), and Sorrento Italian Market (5518 Sepulveda Boulevard).

If you are able to make it to the food drive this Sunday or to one of our regular drop-off locations, contact the CERT Assistance Call Center at (310) 253-5545 to arrange a donation pick up from your doorstep by Bike Culver City.  Please feel free to reach out to CERT if you or one of your neighbors are in need of food.
