Creative Community Center Meeting to Listen to Public Input

The much discussed and widely anticipated meeting on Sept. 24, 2019 at 6 pm at the Culver City Senior Center will be a moment for the stakeholders to express their thoughts on 10858 Culver Blvd. It will not be the moment for the city council to vote.

As with any significant property use in Culver City, giving people a time and place to get information and collectively reflect on the use is essential.  For the council to vote requires that it be an agendized item at a council meeting.

Todd Tipton, of the Culver City Community Development Department, offered  that “the purpose of Tuesday’s meeting is to get public input and feedback on options for the future of 10858 Culver Boulevard. In addition to the options that have been identified already, there will be the option at the meeting to submit ideas and options that haven’t previously been identified.”

How will the city collect and organize the data from the meeting?

“We will be using Poll Everywhere software to understand opinions of the participants.” According to Tipton, “the Poll Everywhere software allows all of the options to be shared with the meeting participants and everyone can provide feedback on them. This meeting format has been used in past City meetings and participants have given the City very positive feedback about the format. This is part of the reason why City Council asked to have this meeting format used.”

Tonight’s meeting will be focused on ideas, input and reflection from residents, community members and stakeholders. The City Council will not be making a decision Tuesday night. A duly noticed agenda item will be presented for consideration at a future date, at which there will be the opportunity for the more traditional “speaker card” public comment.
