1988 Performances Continue – Heidi Duckler Dance @ Westfield

ShowImage1988 features four site-specific dance performances by the Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre, centering on six featured artworks from Culver City’s public art collection. The 1988 event series celebrates the 1988 adoption of the Art in Public Places Program Ordinance and highlights the public art program and the performing arts as primary components of the ordinance.

The second ‘1988’ performance will be on Sunday, May 7th and features Punctuation Station, by Jeff Kopp located at Westfield Culver City 6000 Sepulveda Blvd. Culver City, CA 90230

Because the Heidi Ducker Dance Theatre perform outside of proscenium stage settings, they find frequent opportunities to engage the community while they are in residence, which provide opportunities for community members to experience the choreographic process.

This Event is Two Events in One

The first is a teaching event during the public rehearsal process on Sunday May 7th, 12:00 Noon – 5:00 PM. The Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre will provide guided coursework for the Culver City High School AVPA students, creating a site-specific performance by connecting the artwork’s punctuation symbols to body language.

The second event is the public performance, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM, with the HDDT dancers in Target Court. Immediately following, the AVPA students invite everyone to their debut performance in the Sky Lobby where Punctuation Station is also installed. This event concludes with a public talk-back between the public, artists and students.
