The Heidi Duckler Dance Theater is locally famous for stepping outside the traditional curtains and bringing dance to public – and often unexpected – spaces. The upcoming ‘1988’ features four site-specific dance performances by Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre, centering on six featured artworks from Culver City’s public art collection. The ‘1988’ event series celebrates the 1988 adoption of the Art in Public Places Program Ordinance and will highlight the public art program and the performing arts as primary components of the ordinance.
Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre joins 1988 Producer and former Culver City Cultural Affairs Commissioner, Marla Koosed, who worked closely on the most recent ordinance update. Together they toast Culver City’s Centennial and present ‘1988’ with performances throughout 2017.
Performances of ‘1988’ will begin on Sunday, April 23 with ‘Cloud’, located at Access Culver City.
Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 4PM, 5PM, 6PM (Half Hour Performances). Space is limited. Reserve a ticket HERE.
Because the Heidi Ducker Dance Theatre perform outside of proscenium stage settings, they find frequent opportunities to engage the community while they are in residence. Cloud Rehearsals at Access Culver City, are open to the public, which provide opportunities for community members to experience the choreographic process. Public ‘Cloud’ rehearsals are: Saturday, March 25 from 3-6PM; Wednesday, March 29 from 2-6PM; Friday April 21 from 4-7 PM.
