The Culver City Sister City Committee welcomed Japanese marathon runners Mr. Shogo Uraguchi, 26 years old and Ms. Chiaki Kishimoto 33 years old, (pictured left) from from our sister city in Kaizuka who have landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport and were greeted by Marathon Chair, Tim Petersen and his wife Sandra, David Winslow and Jennifer Hartman who returned from Japan a few weeks ago after running the Senshu marathon in Kaizuka; there also was our translator Ryoko.
There are many activities planned; Friday March 17th at 6:30 PM, Welcome Dinner at Mike Cohen’s; 4378 Jasmine Ave., Culver City, CA 90230. This event is open to the public and CCSCC members. This is a potluck event and if you would like to attend please rsvp to our Activities Chair Colleen Jones directly letting her know what you will be bringing; i.e. entree; salad; dessert; drinks or other. Sunday March 19th, 9AM to noon at the L.A. Marathon finish line on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica; after which you may attend the luncheon at 12:30 at Marisol Restaurant; we need to get an advance reservation and head count so please RSVP to Tim Petersen at [email protected] if you plan to be there. There are no reservations, but we send someone early on race day to wait and get on list.
Saturday March 18th, breakfast at Sonia Karroum’s located at 4165 Marcasel Avenue, L.A. CA 90066, tel: 310-391-2929. It will be held from 9 AM to 11 AM. Please RSVP to me at [email protected] if you plan to attend, This breakfast is open to families hosting the runners, former runners, board members and council members. It is a wonderful catered brunch and it’s always fun.
We are also meeting on Monday March 20th at Kay and Dave’s Culver City at 7:30 pm after council meeting where the runners will be recognized.
