La Ballona to Open Toy Loan Library for Youngest Students

2012-09-11 15.05.29La Ballona Elementary School, Culver City Unified School District and the La Ballona PTA is very excited to kick off the La Ballona Toy Program for TK and Kindergarten on Thursday, March 3rd.

The Toy Loan Program is a free service which allows children to borrow toys from a Toy Loan Center in the same manner in which they borrow books from the public library. The children borrow toys once a week. It is a voluntary community effort sponsored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Department of Public Social Services.

The Toy Loan Program helps develop a sense of responsibility in ochildren through the observance of an honor code and merit system that gives praise and recognition when toys are returned on time and undamaged. The success of this concept has been demonstrated over the years and is supported by the fact that the majority of children who borrow toys from the center return them in good condition and on time.

Individual donations help the Toy Loan Program extend its varied services. Your participation in the program will benefit a child and the community ! The Toy Loan Advisory Board is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
Each year, citizens donate thousands of repairable, discarded toys to Toy Loan. Crews repair and assemble items from parts of other toys. The finished product looks as good as new. After toys are repaired, assembled and painted, they are recycled into the various lending centers. Many manufacturers and companies also donate toys to Toy Loan. Annual donation drives are conducted throughout the County by schools and other organizations
