Scammers continue to target utility customers. Typically, they pose as utility “collection” employees and threaten to disconnect electricity service unless a payment is made immediately using a pre-paid cash card. This is a scam.
Scammers are deceiving utility customers into paying non-existent bills with threats of immediate service shut off. Southern California Edison wants you to know: SCE employees will never ask you to purchase pre-paid cash cards to pay your utility bill. If you get a call demanding money by a pre-paid cash card or other personal financial information, hang up and call the police.
