City Announces Applications Open for Baldwin Hills Conservancy Board

g-baldwinhills2The City Clerk’s Office announces the application period for the City Council’s three nominees for the Governor’s appointment of one voting member to the Baldwin Hills Conservancy (BHC) Board of Directors. The Board consists of 13 voting members and seven nonvoting members. This BHC appointment will serve a two year term, which will begin as early as September 2014.

The BHC’s mission is to “acquire open space and manage public lands within the Baldwin Hills area and to provide recreation, restoration and protection of wildlife habitat within the territory for the public’s enjoyment and educational experience.” The BHC has a Board of Directors to guide BHC staff and fulfill this mission.

Applications will be accepted by the City Clerk’s Office until 5:00 PM on Friday, August 1, 2014. Late applications may not be accepted.

City Council discussion regarding these nominations is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 11, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Mike Balkman Council Chambers. Additional information and applications are available in person during business hours from the City Clerk’s Office, located on the first floor of City Hall (9770 Culver Boulevard); may be requested by phoning (310) 253-5851; or can be obtained on the City’s website (www.culvercity.org). Business hours are 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM. City Hall is closed on July 25, 2014.

Applications will be accepted in person, by mail, by fax to (310) 253-6010, or electronically via email to [email protected]. Additional information may be obtained by going to the Baldwin Hills Conservancy’s website at www.bhc.ca.gov/ or by visiting the Governor’s Appointments website at: gov.ca.gov/s_appointmentsapplication.php. The nominees will be required to complete Governor Brown’s online application.
