Two Linwood E. Howe students recently competed in the 2014 Special Olympics Summer Games Invitational held at USC. More than 1,500 athletes and 300 coaches traveled from all over Southern California and over 200 international athletes attended.
Both Lin Howe athletes participated in gymnastics events. Maya Shulman, fifth grade, (pictured at right) won 5 gold medals for bars, beam, floor, vault , and all-around for 5-11 age group.
Caelyn Griffith, Lin Howe alumnae and current CCUSD Adult School student, (pictured at left) received 4 Gold Medals including one for All-Around Athlete in the 16-21 age group.
Both athletes hope to be selected to compete on the USA team at the World Games scheduled for July 2015 here in Los Angeles. Congratulations Maya and Caelyn!
