This little city is looking forward to it’s 100th birthday, and if you think this is exciting, there are lots of things you can do now to start to prepare for the big year! The first order of business is to appoint a board of directors of between five and seven Culver City residents who will in turn adopt the bylaws of the organization and get the Committee going. At the same time, the city will be seeking interest from residents and non-residents who work in or provide services to Culver City who wish to serve on various subcommittees.
If you or your organization have an idea for a project, event or activity tied to the Centennial and occurring between September 2016 and September 2017, don’t keep it to yourself . It can be an existing activity or a new idea. We want a full and active calendar that promotes Culver City and our history.
The Centennial Committee will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the City that will spell out duties and responsibilities. I have already indicated to the City of our intention to have a work plan, timeline, proposed preliminary event calendar and budget prepared by the end of this year.
