“Shades of Grace” investigates the many examples of grace we find in our world today. While one might consider grace represented by a dancer’s flowing elegance, the beauty of nature, or the polish of a debutante, Culver City High School’s DZDP Dance Company considers so much more. Student and faculty choreographers creatively reflect on the grace held captive in a world of secrets, and unveiled from a traumatic event, and released dramatically amidst a melody line played live by a violin and saxophone. The students will portray the many variations of grace in the dance cultures of Mexico, Africa, India, Brazil, and at home in America. Now a tradition, the DZDP “Shades of Grace” concert will feature dances seamlessly woven together with unique and interesting theatrical transitions, creating a special evening of dance theater.
